Rehabilitation Services Coordinator Cookie was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. Cookie has been very accommodating and flexible to the Wellness Center during the Tech Time upgrade. She gladly watches the front desk and phone when needed. She makes herself available in short notice nearly on a daily basis. She attends to customers; giving tours, taking membership dues, and describing the equipment and services. Her support and flexibility has been crucial during the Tech Time upgrade and would not have gone nearly as smoothly without her help. We appreciate everything she does for us!
Andrea was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. Andrea is such an asset to our department and to her patients. She is always willing and eager to do whatever needs to be done, from mopping the floor to assisting in Dr.'s surgery. Andrea is a model patient advocate. She does what it takes to keep her patients and family members calm and safe.

Carol Ackerman Employee of the Month September 2011
Carol was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. Carol always, always has a smile and a kind word. You never hear her complain about anything including pushing the food cart, which towers over her by about three feet. Carol is just a very positive and upbeat person who represents SMC to the patients in such a great way. She knows our individual likes and dislikes and makes sure we are happy with our meals. We are fortunate to have Carol as a part of the SMC staff and our Dietary department.
Jeff was nominated for employee of the month by his peers, with them stating. We would like to nominate Jeff Hill for employee of the month. Jeff always has a smile on his face and always makes a point to say hello or good morning to his fellow employees and people walking into the hospital. He never seems to be in a bad mood. He's always hard at work either doing maintenance in the facility or working outside keeping the grounds looking great. He shoveled a ton of snow last winter without a gripe - that accounts for something! Jeff also does super meeting minutes - another job he took on without whining! He is self motivated, a self starter and can handle any job thrown his way - plus - he notices other things that need to be done and does them! He really deserves recognition!
Connie was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. We would like to nominate Connie Kramer for employee of the month. Connie is an exceptional employee who always puts a professional attitude towards her work whether she is dealing with the public or her fellow workers. Connie has been taking classes at NIC to further understand the field of work she is in, which in turn helps our patients. She is always willing to help out with anything that comes along, even if it is not in her department. She fully believes that it takes everybody's help to run the hospital and keep it running smoothly. She shows great compassion when dealing with patients and coming up with a solution for their bills that is agreeable to both them and our policies. She has a positive attitude when dealing with the public and they respond in kind. I have seen her meet with a very upset patient and have him leave with a smile on his face when she is done. She has never spoken a negative work about the hospital and will always tell the public what a great place it is to work.
Jody was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. We would like to nominate Jody Mitchem as employee of the month. She is an exceptional CNA and helps keep the ER running smoothly at all times. She is always one step ahead of you and has things done before she can ever be asked. She also works for Kellogg ambulance on her days off. Many times when she comes in as ans EMT and if the ER is busy, she jumps right in and helps out. Last night when a double trauma came in, she came in with the ambulance and started right in helping with care and getting transfers ready even though she was not on duty. She is a great asset to SMC and should be the next employee of the month!!!!!!!
Alicia was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. Alicia always goes the extra mile to help with anything that is thrown at her - and with a smile and no hesitation whatsoever. She is the champion for the Board's ELF project and works on that all year long as well as participating in whatever projects and events come up. She runs a "tight ship" in her department and patient safety has always been her main concern. Alicia's name always comes up on top when great customer service is the topic. We are so grateful and lucky that Alicia is a member of the SMC family!
Liz was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. Liz is an amazing asset to the Surgery department and a great manager. She is always cheerful, upbeat and professional. She's an awesome surgical nurse, she puts patients first, always. She's also a great teacher and not afraid to learn new things and procedures to benefit our patients. We are fortunate to have Liz as part of the SMC team and most importantly, a big part of the Surgery department. Thanks for being you, Liz!!

Wellness Center Customer Service Representative
Colleen was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. We would like to nominate Colleen Cochrane fro outstanding Wellness Center Marketing. Colleen uses her familiarity of patients and members to promote both the Fitness Center and Rehabilitation, while being very sincere in their well-being. She constantly ensures the members receive the best value they are entitled to and that both patients and members are comfortable with the staff and facility. Her friendly attitude is an asset to the Wellness Center!
Duane was nominated for employee of the month by his peers, with them stating. Duane is the quintessential nurse: competent, caring, attentive, and concerned. He is always available to help with any aspect of patient care and readily assists therapy staff, even without being asked. He consistently demonstrates high levels of customer service to patients, family members, and other staff. He is willing to learn anything that will improve his ability to care for patients, and is very patient with even the most challenging patients. He is never cross and is always cheerful, and seems genuinely happy to be at work. Duane offers his help in all departments - he is steady and confident. He is the nurse we would all want for ourselves or our loved ones!
Tina was nominated for employee of the month by her peers, with them stating. This is the second or third year that she has organized and delivered the Thanksgiving dinner baskets to SMC families. She also organizes an annual Christmas card drive for our servicemen & women. Tina is active in the Booster Club, Relay for Life and volunteers wherever she sees that someone needs help. She is a positive, loyal employee and an excellent member of our SMC team.
