WHO DOES LAB TESTS?
A Medical Technologist (MT) has a 4 year college degree. A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) has completed a 2 year degree. They have passed tests to be nationally certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
SMC Laboratory is certified by the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare and meets the federal regulations of the Clinical Laboratories Improvement Amendments (CLIA). We participate in proficiency testing from the American Proficiency Institute (API), Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH), and American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
